The Crops Production Survey is done quarterly in the province which aims to generate basic production statistics for crops other than palay and corn. Crops are classified into three commodity groupings, namely: 1) Vegetables and Rootcrops 2) Fruit Crops and 3) Non-Food and Industrial Crops.
The survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector and the general public. It also provides periodic updates on crop related developments. It mainly captures the data on volume of production, area planted/ harvested, and number of bearing trees/hills/vines.
In the first quarter of 2019, the total production of crops in the province was down by 0.34 percent, a slight difference compared to its production in 2018 same quarter. Fruit Crops and Vegetables and Rootcrops posted an output drop of 1.41 percent and 0.52 percent respectively. The decrease was due to hot weather condition brought by the El Niño phenomenon affecting the fruit formation and growth especially on vegetables. Non-Food and Industrial Crops had an 8.30 percent output gain attributable to interventions and programs implemented for crop development by the Department of Agriculture, Philippine Coconut Authority and Local Government Units thru the Municipal Agriculture Office.
