Highlights of the Population Density of Batangas 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH)

  • As of 01 May 2020, the population Batangas, excluding Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad is 2,908,494persons based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH).
  • With a total land area of approximately 3,115.05 square kilometers, the population density of Batangas in 2020 was posted at 934 persons per square kilometer. This represents an increase of 69 persons per square kilometer (7.9 percent) from the population density of 865 persons per square kilometer in 2015. In 2010, there were 763 persons residing in every square kilometer of land. In 2020, Batangas is composed of 4 component cities and 30municipalities.
  • In terms of population, Lipa City was the biggest among the 4cities, with 372,931 persons. It was followed by Batangas City with 351,437 persons, Sto. Tomas with 218,500 and Tanauan with 193,936 persons. The municipality of Tingloy registered the smallest population size of19,215 persons.
  • Among cities, the Sto. Tomas was the most densely populated with a population density of 2,290 persons per square kilometer. This figure is almost 2 times higher than the population density of 977 persons per square kilometer posted at the provincial level.
  • Aside from the City of Sto. Tomas, sixteen (16) other cities/municipalities surpassed the provincial population density of 934 persons per square kilometer in 2020. These were: Taal (2,065 persons per square kilometer), Malvar(1,951 persons per square 4kilometer), Tanauan (1,810 persons per square kilometer), Lipa (1,781persons per square kilometer), and Bauan (1,704 persons per square kilometer).
  • Excluding the four (4) cities, Taal was the most densely populated with 2,065 persons per square kilometer of land. It was followed by Malvar with 1,951 persons per square kilometer, Bauan with 1,704 persons per square kilometer, Talisay with 1,640 persons per square kilometer, and Mataasnakahoy with 1,558 persons per square kilometer.
  • Lobo was the most sparsely populated municipalitywith 233 persons per square kilometer of land. It was followed by San Juan with 417 persons per square kilometer,Taysan with 429 persons per square kilometer, Nasugbu with 490 persons per square kilometer, and Tuy with 491 persons per square kilometer.
  • Of the 1,078 barangays in Batangas, the largest in terms of population size is Darasa of City of Tanauan with 23,987 persons followed by San Vicente of City of Sto. Tomas with 23,335 and Sabang of City of Lipa with 22,153.
  • For the Top 10 least populated barangays in the province, Brgy. Baha in Calatagan had the smallest population with only 6 residents; followed by Brgy. 22 (Pob) in Batangas City with 94 residents and Brgy. 16 (Pob) also in Batangas City with 101 residents. Other least populated barangays include Brgy. 16 and 17 in Batangas City, Poblacion 7 in Taal,PoblacionBrgy. 1 in San Jose, District III (Pob) Lemery, Bgy 15 (Pob) and Maapas in Batangas City and Calumayin in Cuenca.
